The National Coordinator of the Adashe Women Society, Dr. Umma Sani, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his initiative to construct 100 housing units in each ward for vulnerable women as part of efforts to uplift widows and orphans across the country.
Dr. Sani gave the commendation during the commissioning of one hundred housing units in Rigachikun, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
She noted that the Adashe Women Empowerment Society has continued to empower vulnerable women in Nigeria through skills development programmes, adding that the provision of free homes for widows further strengthens the organisation’s mission to improve the lives of disadvantaged women.
According to her, the Tinubu administration is the first to provide free housing units to widows without requiring any financial commitment. She assured the President and the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, that Nigerian women would reciprocate this gesture of support in future democratic exercises.
Dr. Sani urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the houses for the socio-economic benefit of their families and contribute to the development of the state and the nation at large.
In his remarks, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable development aimed at empowering Nigerians to achieve lasting prosperity beyond housing and basic infrastructure.
Represented by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, the President explained that the Federal Government is implementing grassroots-driven development plans for all 8,889 wards across the country to identify priorities and economic opportunities for targeted intervention.
He added that while some communities may prioritise housing, others may require support in agriculture, skills development, infrastructure or business expansion.
President Tinubu maintained that ongoing economic reforms, though demanding, are positioning the country on a stronger economic path, with increased revenue to be reinvested in programmes that promote inclusive growth and uplift communities nationwide.
Speaking at the event, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, pledged that his administration will continue to partner with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to tackle housing challenges in the state.

He commended President Tinubu for selecting Kaduna among the first states to benefit from the free housing scheme for widows, noting that the gesture will significantly improve the lives of vulnerable women.
Also speaking, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, appreciated the support of partners in delivering the project and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to providing affordable and quality homes through modern construction technology and strong partnerships.
He said the initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at expanding home ownership and improving living conditions across the federation.
A total of one hundred widows are expected to benefit from the housing units constructed by the Federal Government in partnership with the Adashe Women Society.
According to him, the initiative is a collaboration amongst the determined woman who led that Adashe Cooperative and reached out to the Family Homes Funds, through the Ministry of Women Affairs.
In a remarks, the Chairman of Family Homes Funds Limited, Mr Ademola Adebise noted that the project symbolizes renewed hope and restored dignity, particularly for the 100 resilient women empowered through the initiative.
