Coalition of Federal Pensioners has reminded the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) of its promise to pay the benefits of retired workers this week, warning that failure to do so may trigger mass protests.

A member of the coalition from the FRCN Chapter, Comrade Dupe Akindele, stated this while reacting to reports that the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation is expected to release the payment funds on Tuesday.

Comrade Akindele, after a meeting with the coalition’s coordinator, Mukaila Ogunbote, cautioned that if the payments are not made by Friday, senior citizens across chapters will be mobilized for protest without prior notice.

She expressed disappointment over the continued delay in settling the benefits, despite earlier claims of presidential approval and reports that the arrears had been cleared.

Comrade Akindele urged all chapters of the coalition to prepare for possible demonstrations next week to demand what she described as their “legitimate entitlements.”
