The Kano State Ministry of Land and Physical Planning has commenced a sensitisation campaign on sectional titling registration for members of the Phone Marketers, Repairs and Technicians Association at the Farm Centre, Kano.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by the Director, Public Enlightenment of the Ministry, Murtala Shehu.
The State Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabbar Mohammed, said the initiative aims to safeguard property ownership and promote socio-economic growth in the state.
Represented by the Director of Sectional Titling, Hajiya Safiya Bala Muhammad, the Commissioner explained that the programme would help government build a comprehensive database of properties within markets and across the state.
According to the statement, property owners who register under the scheme will be issued Certificates of Occupancy (C of O), enabling them to access bank loans and benefit from state and federal government financial intervention programmes.
He outlined the registration requirements to include a written application, ownership documents, sectional and scheme plans, unit plan, building plan approval, drawings, completed application form, and a valid means of identification.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Phone Marketers, Repairs and Technicians Association, Jamilu Bala, commended the ministry for introducing the policy, describing it as a step toward reducing property disputes and land racketeering.
He revealed that the Farm Centre market comprises 25 plazas, of which only four are individually owned, emphasizing the need for proper documentation and registration.
Bala assured that the association would embark on its own awareness campaign to ensure full participation of members in the initiative.
