Participants at the end of a two-day workshop on Productivity and Technology Adoption Survey and Analysis have commended the Zamfara State Coordination Office of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) for organizing what they described as a highly impactful training to enhance professionalism.

The workshop which held in Gusau, brought together veterinary doctors, agricultural officers, livestock experts, and other stakeholders, lauded the L-PRES project for its relevance to modern livestock production and research.

One of the participants, Dr. Aminu Mohammed, a veterinary doctor with Zamfara State Ministry of Agriculture, described the training as a lifetime opportunity that provided participants with essential skills in data collection, presentation, and analysis.

“This training is not only for the L-PRES project but also useful for academic and business research. It is invaluable, and its significance cannot be overemphasized,” he said.

Another participant, Dr. Mohammed Abdullahi Bandado, Area Veterinary Officer of Moru Local Government, described the workshop as educative, interactive, and enlightening, particularly in the areas of modern livestock technology and reporting.

Dr Bandado urged Nigerians to focus on developing local agricultural resources instead of over-relying on foreign systems.

Similarly, Dr. Harold Kutamakiri, a lecturer and livestock health trainer, stressed that, sustained capacity-building programs of this nature would help in addressing underdevelopment in Nigeria’s livestock industry.

In his closing remarks, the Zamfara State Coordinator of L-PRES, Nasiru Mohammed, expressed appreciation to the World Bank, the National Coordination Office, the state government, and technical partners for their support in making the workshop successful.

He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained particularly on how to generate, interpret, and analyze data.

Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed urged the participants to put the knowledge acquired to judicious use for the benefit of livestock sector and the Zamfara state economy.

He also commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his unwavering commitment to agricultural development and thanked the media for providing coverage of the training.

The two-day workshop was part of the World Bank-assisted L-PRES project, which aims to boost livestock productivity and resilience, thereby enhancing food security and economic growth in Zamfara State.
