The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Kaduna State Chapter, has given the Kaduna State Government a 21-day ultimatum over the non-implementation of the newly approved minimum wage.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council of the Union in Kaduna.

The statement, jointly signed by the State President, Comrade Rayanu Isyaku Turunku, and the State Secretary, Comrade Sam Kaiwa, noted that the ultimatum became necessary after several efforts by the Union to resolve the matter failed to yield results.

According to the Union, the non-implementation of the ₦72,000 new minimum wage, already approved by the State Government, has subjected its members to untold hardship amid the current economic realities in the country.

NULGE warned that failure to address the situation would leave it with no option but to embark on an indefinite strike across all 23 local government areas of the state.

The Union therefore called on Governor Uba Sani to urgently intervene in order to resolve the lingering issue and sustain the cordial relationship between organized labour and his administration.
