Nineteen Northern State Governments have been advised to establish power-generating companies to tackle the problem of inadequate electricity supply.
A retired Security Analyst, Major Bashir Galma, gave the advice during a Radio Nigeria Kaduna phone-in programme, Yau Da Gombe.
Major Galma explained that such independent power generation is necessary for industrial development and to curb rising unemployment and insecurity.
He also stressed the need for leaders at all levels to demonstrate fear of God and patriotism in governance to move the nation forward while commending the Nigeria cotton farmers Association for efforts to improve its production nationwide.
Some callers on the programme stressed the need for the citizenry to demand accountability from political leaders to justify huge public expenditure on critical infrastructure.
