Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has graduated thirty licensed private guard personnel from eight companies after a two-week basic retraining programme.

Speaking at the passing-out ceremony in Gusau, the State Commandant, Sani Mustapha, said the exercise was aimed at improving the skills and capacity of operatives for better service delivery.

Mustapha stressed the importance of Licensed Private Guard Companies, to national security, noting that they play a crucial role in providing credible information to conventional security agencies.

He commended the personnel for their dedication and urged them to uphold professionalism, comply with the provisions of the establishment act, and participate in continuous training to enhance productivity.

The Head of the Private Guard Companies Unit, Mr Oyinloye, expressed concern over the poor turnout of companies for the training, disclosing that only eight out of forty licensed operators in the state sent participants.

He said the retraining programme was designed to ensure effectiveness and order in the operations of LPGCs, maintaining that subsequent training dates would be communicated to stakeholders.

In a goodwill message, the Chairman of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria, Zamfara State Chapter, represented by the Secretary, Mr. Mudassir Iliyasu of De-Law Security, commended the NSCDC for its efforts in regulating the activities of private guards in the state.

Mr. Iliyasu urged operators to be disciplined, comply with operational guidelines, and avoid the use of unlicensed or untrained local security personnel.
