The Wife of the Chairman, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmad Sama’ila Yakawada, has officially flagged off this year’s World Breastfeeding Week, with a strong call for exclusive breastfeeding to ensure the healthy growth of children in the area.

Speaking at the event, Hajiya Hadiza urged nursing mothers and their husbands to prioritize exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child’s life, emphasizing its health and developmental benefits.

She noted that the week-long campaign aims to sensitize families on the importance of breastfeeding and mobilize support from both health workers and communities across Giwa Local Government.

Also speaking, the Secretary of Health for Giwa Local Government, Hajiya Salamatu Balarabe, who was represented by the Essential Drugs Officer, Hajiya Talatu Bello, commended the commitment of the Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Ahmad Sama’ila Yakawada, for his consistent efforts in promoting quality healthcare delivery in the area.

She reiterated the administration’s dedication to improving maternal and child health services across the local government.
