Federal Government has been advised to enforce the direct allocation of funds to the 774 local government areas across the country, in order to justify the autonomy granted to them by the National Assembly.

The Liaison Officer of the House of Representatives at the APC National Secretariat, Alhaji Garba Garba-Chede, gave the advice during a telephone interview from Abuja.

Alhaji Garba-Chede noted that such direct allocation would enable the Local Governments embark on socio-economic and infrastructural development projects at grassroots levels.

He stressed the need for the Presidency to sanction Governors who refuse to disburse the allocated funds despite repeated directives.

Alhaji Garba -Chede while commenting on the proposed Constitutional Amendment by the Legislature expressed support for calls by some stakeholders to create additional States to facilitate even-development.
