Kwara state government has assured students and the general public of its commitment towards prioritizing their welfare and safety across all tertiary institutions in the state.

The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, stated this when she received management team of the College of Health Technology, Offa, who paid her a courtesy visit in Ilorin .

She said the visit was in response to a viral video misrepresenting the condition of one of the hostels in the College.

Kawu commended the College’s management for their swift and transparent response to the misleading claims, describing their actions as a demonstration of accountability and dedication to students’ welfare.

The Commissioner also thanked the present administration for its remarkable investments in infrastructure and facilities across educational institutions in the state.

Kawu urged members of the public to disregard the false claims circulating online, stressing that the government remains committed to equipping all tertiary institutions with the resources and policies needed to excel.

She also appealed to stakeholders to engage constructively with relevant institutions to foster positive development rather than spread misinformation.

In their separate remarks, the management of the College of Health Technology, Offa, led by the Board Chairman, Mohammed Musa, and the Provost, Elder Benjamin Ayansola, explained that the hostel shown in the viral video had not been allocated to any students, as it had already been marked for renovation.

They however said for over two months ago, all individuals who encroached upon the hostel were identified and promptly evacuated by the school authorities.
