Political Leaders across the country have been urged to ensure honesty accountability in the management of public funds to justify democratic governance.

A retired journalists of the NTA, Kaduna, Alhaji Ibrahim Fagge who made the appeal was dismayed over reports that each member of the National Assembly received over two hundred and twenty million naira salaries and allowances per annum.

Alhaji Ibrahim Fagge described the situation as unfortunate and stressed the need for the citizenry to demand for unicameral legislature on part time basis to address such unnecessary waste of funds at the expense of socio-economic development of the country.

He expressed the hope that civil society organisations and other stakeholders would insist on inclusion of such demands in the constitutional review to achieve desired objectives.

Alhaji Ibrahim Fagge also suggested stoppage of monthly deductions of pensioners benefits to support the Nigerian union of pensioners following alleged failure protect interests of retirees and called for immediate settlements of pension arrears to the senior citizens as promised.
