Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate PTAD says over forty-five billion naira is required to settle the accumulated arrears owed to Federal Government retirees.

The Executive Secretary of the Directorate, Miss Tolulope Odunaiya, disclosed this at a recent stakeholders’ meeting, assuring that efforts were ongoing to secure the necessary funds for immediate payment of the outstanding benefits, and also solicited necessary cooperation.

Miss Toluope Odunalya expressed concern over delayed payment of the arrears including the twenty-nineteen consequential adjustment which had not been properly implemented following the senior citizens’ complaints over the issue.

She also explained that harmonization of such benefits would start next year pointing out that pressure was being mounted on the federal government to release the needed funds considering that all steps had been taken for immediate payment as soon as possible to avert the protest expected to resume this month.

The National union of Pensioners in a statement by the National financial secretary Bolaaladipo Popoola warned against further delays in the settlement of the accumulated benefits which caused untold hardship to the pensioners.
