Jigawa State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government says its oversight visits to local Government Councils across the state are aimed at promoting good governance at the grassroots level.
The Chairman of the Committee and member representing Gwiwa Constituency, Alhaji Aminu Zakari, made this remark while leading members of the committee on a two-day oversight visit to the Birnin Kudu Local Government Secretariat.
According to him, the visit was part of the function of the legislature to oversee the implementation of government policies and programmes to ensure improved service delivery.
Alhaji Aminu Zakari noted that during the visit, the committee will inspect and assess administrative and financial documents as well as visit projects at site to ensure even development at all level.
He said the committee also interact with the executive, legislative council and the management staff of the local government to exchange views, provide recommendation and advise that may guide the local government in the conduct of its affairs.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Chairman Birnin Kudu Local Government Council Builder Dr. Builder Muhammad Uba, expressed delight over the visit which he believed will enable the local council to conduct it’s responsibilities effectively.
Builder Uba explained that since he assumed office concerted effort is directed towards the execution of capital projects across the area as well as the general renovation of the local government Secretariat.
