Nigerian Bar Association NBA, Kaduna Branch Barnawa, has visited the Kaduna Geographic Information Service KADGIS to express appreciation for the land allocated to it in Barnawa and to propose a strategic partnership to tackle the growing menace of fake lawyers in land transactions.

The NBA delegation, led by its Chairperson, applauded the state government and the Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, for the ongoing reforms.

They also proposed the introduction of a unique NBA seal to verify the authenticity of legal documents relating to land dealings, an effort aimed at curbing fraudulent practices by impostors.

Responding to the proposal, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim pledged full support and stated that henceforth, any legal document without the NBA-approved seal would be considered invalid.

He also revealed that KADGIS is developing a comprehensive lawyer database to enhance due diligence in land matters.

Dr. Ibrahim further advocated for cross-training sessions between NBA members and KADGIS staff to strengthen collaboration on legal and planning processes.

He also encouraged a working synergy between lawyers, surveyors, valuers, and planners to ensure the credibility of land transactions in Kaduna.

Radio Nigeria reports that the visit ended with a call for the NBA to submit a formal proposal to the Governor of Kaduna State, outlining how the association could support broader state reforms and ease of doing business.
