A 50-year old man, Umar Sule has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping his 17-year old daughter in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, Ahmed Wakili said the police swept into action immediately after a resident of the area filed a complaint against the suspect, Mr Sule.

According to Wakili, the suspect was alleged to have had several premeditated sexual encounters with his daughter in his matrimonial bedroom in November 2024.

Wakili, who confirmed the suspect’s arrest, explained that during interrogation, Mr Sule confessed to the crime, saying he had been molesting his daughter several times on different occasions, leading to her pregnancy for three months.

Wakili maintained that the man’s daughter has confirmed the incident.

“The incident happened when her mother traveled to visit her parents at Burra village via Ningi LGA, Bauchi state, which her father took advantage of and was having sexual intercourse with her. Thereafter, on the return of her mother, she observed the victim was pregnant and questioned her who was responsible for that, and the victim disclosed that it was her biological father,” he stated.

The Bauchi State Police Command’s spokesperson added that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be charged to court.
