Muslims have been charged to imbibe the teachings learned during Ramadan and apply them throughout their lives to gain benefits in this world and the hereafter.
The Chief Imam of JIBWIS, Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, Sheikh Muntari Salisu, gave this charge while delivering a sermon shortly after performing the two raka’at Eid-el-Fitr prayers in Katsina.
He said that although Ramadan has ended, the lessons learned during the period should not be neglected. He added that there is a need for the Muslim Ummah to continue practicing them.
Imam Muntari Salisu also emphasized the importance of Muslims, especially wealthy individuals, assisting the less privileged with food, money, and other essential items to alleviate their suffering.
The Chief Imam also called for frequent prayers for peace, progress, and stability to prevail in Katsina and the country at large. He also advised the government at all levels to intensify efforts toward ending the security challenges bedeviling the nation.
Earlier, in his pre-sermon preaching, Malam Ahmed Saidu condemned the recent killing of innocent Northerners in the Orome community of Edo State and called on the state and federal governments to ensure that the culprits face the full wrath of the law.
He also advocated for the unity of the northern region, citing examples of prominent personalities from the North, including Sir Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna), Tafawa Balewa, Yakubu Gowon, Hassan Usman, and Galadiman Kano, among others, emphasizing the need to take inspiration from their leadership and legacy.
