Senate has approved the restoration of Aniocha North II Constituency in Delta State, following a motion by Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North) during plenary in Abuja.

The decision aligns with the Supreme Court’s judgment in suit No. SC/129/2019, affirming the constituency’s reinstatement.

The Senate further called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to implement this resolution in the next State Houses of Assembly election.

Senator Nwoko highlighted that in 2014, communities including Idumuje-Unor, Idumuje-Ugboko, Nkwu-Nzu, Ugboba, Idumuogo, Ugbodu, Ubulubu, Anioma, and Ogodo had taken legal action at the Federal High Court in Asaba to reclaim the constituency.

With this approval, Aniocha North II is set to regain its legislative representation, reinforcing justice and governance in Delta State.
