The Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has embarked on a series of technical sessions to create a comprehensive implementation plan for the state’s climate change policy.

The sessions are being held in collaboration with the Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE) and other relevant stakeholders.

The primary objective of the technical sessions is to review, refine, and finalize the draft implementation plan, including the action plan and results framework.

This will ensure that the plan is robust, actionable, and aligned with the state’s climate change policy.

During the sessions, participants worked together to address critical data gaps, establish clear expectations and timelines, and define responsibilities for the successful implementation of the plan.

In his remarks, the Director of Climate Change at MoECC, Umar Sake Anka, highlighted the importance of the technical sessions in developing a comprehensive implementation plan.

He noted that the plan will be critical in guiding the state’s efforts to address climate change and ensure sustainable development.

Also speaking, the Director environment and climate Change, Dr. Hamisu Bilyamin explained that, the objectives of the session was to review the draft action plan, discuss identified gaps and required inputs as well as kickstart practical sessions for the framework.

The team lead, FCDO PACE, Malam Auwalu Hamza urged participants to utilize the knowledge gained to achieve the desired objectives.

He stressed that, participants were carefully selected based on their experiences and expertise to add value to the Kano state climate change policy.

“FCDO PACE is designed to support more accountable and inclusive institutions to respond to Nigeria’s governance and climate change challenges”.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the technical sessions are expected to culminate in the development of a finalized implementation plan that will be used to guide the state’s climate change efforts.
