Over five hundred and forty-two persons have been enrolled in the ongoing Katsina Healthcare Contributory Scheme (KATCHIMA) at the Dutsinma Comprehensive Health Center, Katsina State.

The officer in charge of the Center, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman Liman, disclosed this in Dutsinma while briefing journalists on the center’s activities.

He stated that the comprehensive health center had achieved significant success in fulfilling its primary responsibilities.

According to him, those enrolled in the scheme are receiving medications and other medical care at a reduced cost.

Alhaji Abubakar Liman further explained that the center also provides medicine and medical services to over 2,000 people under the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund Scheme (BHPFS) and 422 vulnerable persons, mostly pregnant women and children.

He commended the effort of the state governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda for re-introducing the program for the benefit of the state’s and local government’s workers as well as poor and vulnerable persons in the state.

The officer incharge also explained that, the center was organizing a town hall meetings, lectures and education talks to educate the good people of the area about some health issues as well as government policies and programmes in order to benefit from them.

He also called on general public to always visit the nearest health facility in order to know their health status especially those willing to marry adding that, at Dutsinma comprehensive health center the test is free and is genuine.

Alhaji Abubakar Liman enumerated some achievements recorded within a period under review which to include the renovation of the center and securing of mattresses, maternity beds, forty plastic chairs, laboratory equipments among others.

In a related development, the center also spent over three million naira for the purchase of brand new gulf wagon which serves as utility and ambulance vehicle, adding that staff welfare is their paramount.

According to him, 44 casual staff were employed and being payed monthly allowance to complement government efforts toward addressing shortage of manpower in primary health centers .

He also commended the effort of the state commissioner for health Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua and the Director General, National Primary Healthcare Agency, Katsina, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Safana for their timely support and supervision of Kachima programmes in the state.
