The Commissioner for Water Resources Kano State,Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa say Challenges Hindering adequate supply of Portable drinking water to the teeming populace would soon be history as installation on procured modern water pumping machines is in progress.
Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa disclosed this when he visited Tamburawa water works treatment plant to inspect the Procured water pumps in Kano.
He said in an effort to ensure that enough portable drinking water was being supplied to the general populace of the state ,Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has Procurement ten number modern water pumping machines from South Korea,and the equipments have already arrived Kano , installation is in progress.
Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa noted that proactive measures have been implored to revived the existing water reservoirs which have been vandalized during the last administration.
” You will be surprised how those historical reservoirs were been neglected and vandalized,we will revived them and ensure that they’re functioning effectively with a view to addressing the challenges”he said.
The Commissioner maintained that over one point three billion Naira is being spent monthly on procuring water treatment chemicals and other logistics for effective supply of Portable drinking water to the teeming populace of the state.
He decried the evil acts of some people who tapped the water that was supplied to the people and reserved it in their tanks which they later sold to people,saying anyone found in such act will face the full wrath of the law.
He urged irrigation farmers who also tapped water meant for public consumption to desist from such act with a view to adequate supply of Portable drinking water.
Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa maintained that Kano State Government has invited CNG Conversion and installation experts to conduct the needed assessment for conversation of fuel using generators to CNG with view to cut down expenses of Generators fuel consumption.
He stressed that efforts were also in place to installed solar power at small water treatment plants geared towards reducing the pressure of power supply on the Tamburawa water treatment plant.
The Commissioners added that in the next thirty working days the newly procured equipments will be fully installed.
He warned that vandalisation of water equipments will no longer be tolerated.
