A Kaduna based non governmental organization, Small Home Farmers Development Initiative in collaboration with Tandany general & Agro alliance has organized a one day seminar and training workshop with the title, Exploring Alternative feed supplement by using Black Soldier fly (BSF).
The seminar and training workshop that host 200 women and youths was held at the Open Field of the Dantsoho memorial primary and secondary school U/ Rimi Kaduna North.
The CEO and founder of the NGO, Hajiya Hajara Yusuf Dantsoho said the seminar is aimed to develop on organic wastes, reducing the ecological pollution and converting waste biomass into protein fat rich insects.
According to her, BSF can replace increasingly expensive protein sources used in poultry, aquaculture and livestock compound diet formulation, such as fish meal and soybean meal, which holds the potential to alleviate future food and feed insecurity.
Hajiya Hajara Yusuf Dantsoho however expressed her dismay over the low turnout of the women as compared to over 800 hundred people that have been trained in the previous events she has organized.
She stressed the need to extend the hand of fellowship to cushion the effects of the hard economic impact and inflation, hence the reason for the training.
According to her, this Black Soldier fly training Costs a lot of money but it was organized for Free so that at the comfort of their homes, they will be making millions from the knowledge acquired which include, How to breed black soldier fly, produce organic animal feeds, reduce head cost of feeds by 80% and minimize profits in farming business.
Hajiya Hajara Yusuf Dantsoho who added that over 20 years of humanitarian services has never received any financial support or Grant from the government or donor agencies however solicit for the support of the government and well spirited individual so as to put smile on the faces of the less privilege.
