The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the recertification of Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) documents, with a deadline of January 31, 2025.

The Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabbar Mohammed Umar, disclosed this during a media briefing held in Kano.

The commissioner expressed his appreciation for the media’s role in disseminating information about the recertification exercise, which has seen over 2,000 CofOs recertified since its inception on November 25, 2024.

He commended the citizens of Kano State for their positive response to the exercise, with over 1 million recertification-related interactions recorded.

The commissioner emphasized the importance of meeting the January 31 deadline, urging landowners to recertify their documents to avoid any unpleasant experiences.

He also announced the commencement of Sectional Titling in the state, which will simplify the ownership process for businesses and individuals.

In a remark,the Commissioner thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his support and confidence in the ministry’s efforts to achieve its goals.

He expressed his optimism that the recertification exercise would enhance the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and promote transparency and accountability in land administration.
