The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, hosted a Christmas luncheon for frontline troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, underscoring his appreciation for their sacrifices and unwavering dedication to national security.

According to a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the event aimed to provide troops with a sense of home during the festive season while fostering camaraderie. Lt.-Gen. Oluyede commended the troops for their significant role in combating terror networks and maintaining national unity, peace, and security.

He urged them to remain resolute in their mission to defeat adversaries as the nation transitions into 2025, aligning with his command’s philosophy of creating a well-motivated and combat-ready force. The COAS also reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing welfare initiatives to boost troop morale.

The event featured a goodwill message from Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, represented by Dr. Bukar Tijani, who lauded the troops for their sacrifices in restoring peace and stability in the region. The governor pledged continued government support for military operations in the state.

Additionally, Maj.-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, highlighted the significance of the luncheon in building esprit de corps and recapping the year’s accomplishments. He assured the COAS of the troops’ dedication to achieving their mandate.

As part of the occasion, Lt.-Gen. Oluyede performed the groundbreaking ceremony for two new family accommodation blocks at Maimalari Cantonment, reflecting his commitment to improving troop welfare.

The COAS conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s commendation and Nigerians’ appreciation for the troops’ efforts in defending the nation.
