The Nigeria Police Force Sokoto Command, has commenced investigations into an alleged abduction of five children in the state.

When contacted, the Sokoto Police Command Spokesperson, ASP Rufa’i Abubakar told Radio Nigeria that the suspect, ASP Kulu who is serving with the Kubwa Division in Abuja , alongside her accomplice, one Elizabeth were arrested by the FCT Police Command for allegedly abducting five children, including a less than two- week-old -baby girl from Sokoto State.

ASP Rufa’i Abubakar said the suspects and victims were transferred and handed over to the command from FCT command to Sokoto for further investigation into the matter.

Among those abducted were three toddlers under the age of two, and a five-year-old named Asmau Ya’u, who was reportedly abducted while on her way to an Islamic school in Sokoto.

He explained that the suspects were arrested while travelling from Sokoto to Abuja in a commercial 18 seater bus when some passengers alerted the police near Abuja after they noticed that the custodians of the children can not breastfeed the children during seven hours journey from Sokoto to Abuja.

Also speaking to Radio Nigeria, an official of a Human Right Network , Sirajo Madawaki said the network would ensure that the suspect were prosecuted in order to serve as deterrence to others
