FG To Install CCTV On Third Mainland Bridge

Written by Basirat Memudu

The Federal Government says it will install closed-circuit television-CCTV and solar lights on Third Mainland Bridge as parts of the repair works.

This was made known by the Minister of Works, David Umahi yesterday on National television interview in Abuja.

David Umahi said the CCTV was needed to combat crime and illegal mining around the bridge.

The minister noted that the installation of the CCTV will be both on top of the bridge and under the bridge.

According to him, the president said that part of the problem the bridge is having is people who are doing illegal mining of the sand who even go as far as destroying the concrete to anchor their small boats.

The Third mainland bridge situated in Lagos is one of Africa’s longest bridges that has been under repairs for weeks, causing gridlock to motorists and other road users.
