Muslims have been advised to be pillars supporting each other during this challenging economic situation.

The guest speaker at a Ramadan lecture, Director of the Center for Islamic Legal Studies at ABU Zaria, Dr. Imam Sa’ad Abubakar, gave the advice during the lecture organized by the Muslim Ummah at Arewa House, Kaduna.

He explained Zakkat to be a way of addressing economic challenges in the society if channelled through the proper way.

Dr. Imam emphasized that when distributing Zakat, those responsible should consider the challenges faced by people in society, particularly prioritizing the less privileged.

He emphasized that Muslims should adhere to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah to assess all aspects of social and economic values within society.

In his contribution, Chief Imam of Maiduguri Road Juma’at Mosque, Professor Muhammad Yahaya Mujahid, emphasized the importance of supporting individuals in society to become self-reliant, especially those who have demonstrated talent in a particular field.

He observed that if the roles of Islamic organizations in Nigeria and mosques are effectively utilized, economic growth would have achieved a better standard.

In a closing remark, Dr. Imam Sa’ad urged the government and stakeholders to engage experts in the distribution of Zakat to devise effective plans for societal development.
