Anniversary: Group Organises Novelty Football Match, Visits Hospital, Other

Individuals and corporate organizations have been encouraged to invest in the health sector, as part of effort to compliment government in the area of Effective Health-care Service Delivery for sustainable growth and development.

Former Commissioner of Health in Kaduna State, Dr. Thot Joseph Dogo said while receiving a group ‘Together We Can Do It,’ TWCDI on a health Familiarization, and Sanitation Visit at Graceland Hospital, Barnawa, Kaduna.

The Former Commissioner, who is also the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, represented by the Hospital Manager mr. Ibrahim Mohammed described the visit as timely, noting that, it would facilitate the recovery process of patients in the health facility.

Commending the group for a job well done, he said the humanitarian service rendered would go along way in reducing crimes and poverty, as well as uplift the Hope of the vulnerable people who cannot afford such Services to enhance their wellbeing.

Dr. Joseph Thot emphasized the need for a combined push across various human activities to support the government’s healthcare initiatives, while highlighting that efficient healthcare is crucial for creating a skilled workforce that contributes to the improved socio-economic growth of the nation.

He expressed commitment to partner and collaborate individuals, groups and organizations toward ensuring free, affordable and comprehensive healthcare delivery to under-served communities across the state

“Today I welcome a humanitarian group, ‘together we can do it’ in our facility, we went round to see the sick, encouraged, and give them care and support, they equally carried out sanitation program within the facility,

“what this group brought today is a support which you can see it from the faces and the heart of the patients that are laying down here, and you people must continue this initiative, not only in Graceland, you have to continue doing this because government alone cannot do it,

“if groups like ‘together we can do it’ could come in and continue rendering services like these, I don’t think even the crime rate will continue to increase, because it’ll tackle crime, poverty, and uplift the Hope of the vulnerable in the society,

“As the project coordinator of Graceland Healthcare Development Foundation, we are ready to partner and collaborate with ‘together we can do it’ at any time, to put our heads together to see how we can carry out activities and programs to assist the people in the society”

The Former Health Commissioner, applauded the Kaduna State government for activating a rapid response team, as well as giving red alert to hospitals across the state as part of proactive steps taken to curtail the spread of Anthrax and Diphtheria in the state.

“Actually we are on red alert, the ministry of health has already alerted every hospital on this issue, the measures have been taken, if we noticed something suspicious, we usually call the attention of the ministry as it’s there twenty four hours, 24 to come and take care of it”

Speaking on behalf of the team, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Saidu Ahmed Yau explained that the visit aimed to promote cleanliness as an essential step in eradicating malaria-causing vectors and other disease carriers from the surroundings and the familiarization visit concluded with a focus on sanitation, which was necessary to achieve this goal.

He pointed out that, the visit also provided a platform for a form of psycho-therapy which he said would go along way in enhancing their mental, social and physical wellbeing for quicker improvement.

Presenting the items donated, leader of the humanitarian group, Mrs. Felicitas Nenadi Bitiyong who explained that, the vision of the group was build on the philosophy of collaboration, as to compliment government on welfare and development, called on individuals and organizations to partner with the group in the service to both God and humanity.

She said the familiarization visit was part of programmes lined up to mark the one year anniversary of the group, with the theme ‘Heart to Care, Hands to Help, that featured hospital visitation, novelty football match, as well as award presentation to deserving individuals.

The leader identified Sanitized Hand Washers and Sanitizers, Toilet Washers, Toilet Papers, and Detergents as some of the items the group donated to the hospital to promote hygiene which is key in preventing the spread of diseases, especially in an hospital environment.
