Senator Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo South has suggested to President Bola Ahmad Tinubu the establishment of a Revenue Ministry.

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim gave the Advise in a statement on sunday after paying a courtesy visit to president Tinubu in Abuja.

The advise came ahead of Cabinet formation with assignment of portfolios to the Ministerial nominees awaiting Senate confirmations.

Senator Jimo Ibrahim said the Ministry when created, would serve as coordinating platform for all revenue generating agencies, adding that this will enable the country to move out of the current socio-economic problems.

He argued that most of the revenue generating agencies in Nigeria today do not have a coordinating body or platform and the Ministry of Finance was not giving the required mobilisation and coordination in this regard , hence , the need for Ministry of Revenue .

Jimoh explained that the idea had been sold to President Bola Tinubu who according him , saw the need for it in line with his pedigree on improved revenue generation .

The lawmaker further said that the Ministry of Revenue when created , would serve as one of the strategies through which the nation’s debt could be defrayed by serving as window for improved revenue generation to fast-track the nation’s development.
