Ambassador De Leo stated this in Abuja at an Italian Art Exhibition with the theme: “Colours of Noble Cultures” by a renowned Italian artist, Mr Luigi Ballarin which showcased paintings of Kano Durbar and Horses inspired paintings on display.

The Italian ambassador said in Africa and especially in Nigeria, horses were celebrated in spectacular festivities and represent a significant cultural heritage.

He said Mr. Bellarin had given his personal interpretation of the horse theme by tracing converging paths that unite different cultures in the values of peace and dialogue.

The Artist Mr. Luigi Ballarin explained that what inspired his painting was the similarity of Italian horse race called Palio in Siena and the Kano Durbar held during festive periods in the north.

The Italian Artist said he studied about the horses in Kano and understood they were similar to the Italian Palio in Siena and others.

He expressed readiness to collaborate with local painters and artists in Nigeria for more synergy between the two countries.

The Palio was first held officially in 1482 as a civic celebration.
