Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva has resigned.

The Minister resigned to contest the Bayelsa State Governorship seat in November this year.

Timipre Sylva had earlier served as Bayelsa State Governor in 2007 under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He was re-elected in 2008 and removed again in 2012 after the Supreme Court ended his administration.

Upon his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him in 2019 as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.
