The Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has congratulated the newly inaugurated executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Katsina State Council and the National Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Katsina State Chapter.
The congratulatory message is contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman, NUJ Katsina State Council Hassan Tukur Dan Ali and the Chairperson, NAWOJ Hajia Hannatu Mohammed respectively and made available to newsmen in Katsina.
In the letter, the Kanwan Katsina who is also the grand patron of the NUJ/ KTTV Chapel noted that the re-inauguration of the state executive to serve for another tenure of three years is a clear testimony of achievement, dedication, selfless service and the confidence the working journalists have on them.
Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara commended the NUJ for construction of sporting complex for working journalists in the state, renovation and rehabilitating the NUJ Secretariat and other laudable projects and programs aimed at improving the working condition of journalist.
While assuring continued support and collaboration between the office of the District Head of Ketare and the members of the NUJ, the monarch urged them to continue the good works and utilize the available space at the Secretariat to construct chalets for commercial purpose and revenue generation.
Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara who was the Royal Father of the Day at the inauguration ceremony called on working journalists to always balance their stories to avoid spreading fake news especially in the era of social media.
The occasion has in attendance, the wife of the Katsina State Governor Elect Hajia Zulaihatu Dikko Radda as the special guest of honor which was her first official public function as the Wife of the Governor Elect.
