Politicians in the country have been advised not to allow political differences to affect the unity of the country in the spirit of brotherhood, love, peace, and unity.

His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar gave the advise at this year’s Ramadan lecture,
jointly organized by the Sultanate Council, Jamaatu Nasril Islam, Islamic Education Trust, and NUJ, in Sokoto state

The religious leader said anyone who was not satisfied with the outcomes of the election should go to court as the constitution prescribed.

He said Islam was built on five pillars and that peace, unity and brotherhood among muslims were basic and fundamental ingredients that strengthens the religion.

According to the revered leader, elections have come and gone and winners have emerged as destined by God stressing that muslim must reconcile selves for socio-security and economic development of the country.

The Sultan said the allegation made by some Muslims in the country that the Sultanate was always aligning the Ramadan moon sighting with that of the Saudi Arabia is not true.

According to him, there was no challenges associated with moon sighting except for lack of proper understanding and deliberate self centeredness driving the interest of some people.

He said as religious body, the Sultanate would not betray its conscience by telling liars to fellow muslims but would always do the right thing and ensure same was communicated to all muslims.

The Sultan commended traditional rulers and scholars in the country for their roles in ensuring peace and unity amongst diverse religious and ethnic differences in the country.
