Zamfara state government has imposed a statewide curfew from 8:00pm to 6am until peace is restored.

This was contained is a statement signed by the commissioner information, Magaji Ibrahim Dosara and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.

According to the statement, government noticed with dismay, the wanton destruction and vandalization of government and public property and assets where several innocent citizens are being inflicted with various degrees of injuries.

It added that, the youths engaged in vandalization of properties in the name of celebration of Governorship election results.

Reports available to the government indicate that lives were lost, houses and personal effects destroyed and shops burgled.

To guard against these acts, government finds it imperative to impose the curfew until peace is restored, adding that security agencies are therefore directed to ensure compliance.
