Religious Leaders Urged To Preach Against Corruption

Religious leaders have been urged to intensify effort in preaching against corruption and other criminal activities to make the society a better place for all to live.

Professor Yusuf Badmas made the call while speaking at a tutorial engagement on the use of Sermon Guide for Imams organised by an Islamic Society in Ilorin, Kwara state.

According to him, Imams of central mosques must be well acquainted with the current affairs to enable them guide their followers and members of the public.

Professor Badmas noted that it is the responsibility of the scholars to return the citizens to the right path when they are going astray.

He advised the religious leaders and scholars to join hands together in the fight against corruption in the society.

In his remark, the founder of the Islamic Society, Imam Fuad Adeyemi said the reduction of corruption to the minimum will reduce societal problems by half.

He urged Imams and other scholars to acquaint themselves with religious teachings that abhor corruption to enable them win the war.

Imam Adeyemi appealed to parents and guardians to start the process of the fight against corruption from home.
