The Federal Government has inaugurated a 22-member committee tagged “Presidential Transition Council”, to facilitate and manage the 2023 transition programme.

Performing the ceremony in Abuja, the Chairman of the committee and Secretary to the Government of the federation, Boss Mustapha said the committee was put in place by President Muhammadu Buhari to facilitate “seamless handing over” of power from his administration to whoever emerges president in next week’s election.

The presidential Transition Council is expected to, among others , “create avenue for effective communication between the current and incoming administration “, the SGF said.

The Head of the Civil Service of the federation and member of the committee, Dr Folasade Yemi -Esan, said the constitution of the committee, even before the presidential election, was a pointer to the “selfless attitude” of the president in ensuring a peaceful transition process.

Dr Yemi-Esan stressed the need for the committee to properly document the achievements of the Buhari-led administration for proper handing over process.
