The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC says over one hundred and eighty thousand permanent voters card PVCs are yet to be collected in Borno state.

Alhaji Mohammed said out of the number, one hundred and fourteen thousand were uncollected cards from 2010 while about seventy thousand are newly produced pvcs.

According to him, the Commission has taken delivery of 54,949 new cards and have been issued to local government offices for onward collection by their rightful owners.

The Resident Commissioner remarked that the INEC has decentralized the collection of pvcs, calling on those that have registered to come forward and collect their cards before the suspension of the exercise in the middle of January next year.

“In the Commission’s drive to bring about massive collection of PVCs, it has approved that rigous collections will start at the local government offices on the 12th December to 15th January 2023” Mohammed said.

On IDP voting, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim explained that many local government areas in the state will still conduct general elections in camps.

He assured that no part of the state will be disenfranchised during the forthcoming elections.
