Nigerian media and other stakeholders have been urged to contribute their quota towards ensuring a free, fair and credible conduct of the forthcoming 2023 elections.

A lecturer at the Department of Political Science, University of Ilorin, Dr. Bakare Adebola made the call while speaking at a Media round table held in Ilorin.

According to him, the media being the fourth estate of the realm, must perform it’s duty with integrity.

Dr. Adebola advised that the media should not allow the country slide into anarchy through sensational reportage.

The university Don, urged the media to use the role of agenda setting to bring electorates accountable for their actions and inactions.

In his address at the occasion, the General Manager of an FM station, Dr Rasheed Adigun, said that the media has laid down ethical values that must be guided by it to ensure integrity and professionalism.
