EFFC Chairman and his management team during the budget defence session

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, has appealed for more funds in the commission’s 2023 budget to enable it establish the proposed EFCC Academy.

EFFC Chairman Abdulrashid Bawa, made the plea while defending the commission’s 2023 budget before the house of Representatives Abuja.

Abdulrashid Bawa, explained that the sum of 3 billion naira was allocated for the project in 2021 but up to time he was defending this year’s budget nothing was released to the commission for the project.

The EFCC boss who emphasized the importance of establishing the Academy to agency’s operations maintained that it would avail the commission the opportunity to train its personnel to be a step ahead of criminals.

Abdulrashid Bawa, said a memo of 3 billion naira has been drafted for the commencement of project at the proposed site of the EFFC Academy which would presented before the federal executive council for approval as earmarked by the National Assembly.

According to him, the official building plan made available to the commission by consultants confirmed that the project would require at least fifty billion naira to complete it.
