The Media has been described as an engine room for democratic sustainability across the globe.
Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari made the assertion during an interactive session with the Executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kano State Ministry of Information Chapel, who paid a courtesy visit to the house.
According to him, the media have played a vital role to the development of the society, as such there was the urgent need to accord high priority to all its endeavours.
The Speaker, however stressed that the assembly is fully aware of the important roles being played by Information Officers at MDAs and Local Government areas.
Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari highlighted that, the house would collaborate with the state Ministry of Information, on matters related to capacity building of Information Officers, in line with global best practice, of keeping the public abreast on different issues for more productivity and efficiency.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of NUJ Information Chapel, Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Dederi said they were at the assembly to further strengthen the already existing cordial working relationship.
While commending the speaker for giving them the opportunity to visit and interact with the legislators, he reiterated the union’s dedication in discharging their duties diligently.
