Federal Government has put in place adequate security measures within Abuja and neighboring states of Nasarawa and Niger.

Minister of Defence General bashir Salihi Magashi retired, made this known when he appeared before the house of Representatives committee on army to defend the ministry’s budget proposal for 2023 fiscal year.

General Salihi Magashi retired, who was responding to question on the alleged terrorists attacks in Abuja, said the ministry would not take threat lightly, as efforts were on to verify the source of the threat.

The minister also confirmed that to this effect, the government had directed the intelligence organizations to properly handle the matter and has already provided detailed information on areas that the government is demanding

General Magashi retired however, urged the US government to always provide such information to the ministry instead of going public to avoid causing confusion among the people.

In a remark the chairman House committee on defence, Mr Babajimi Benson, told the minister that the house had embarked on enacting legislation designed to strengthen the defence sector for optimal performance.

Mr Benson similarly, expressed satisfaction with the level of successes recorded so far in the fight against insecurity in the last five months, which proved the level of professionalism displayed by the military.

He assured the minister of the house of determination to provide adequate funds to the defence sector in the 2023 budget to enhance its capacity in protecting the nation’s territory effectively.
