National Population Commission NPC, Zamfara office has taken data from 3,230 localities across the state for the successful conduct of 2023 population and housing census exercise.
The Federal Commissioner in charge of the State, Alhaji Muhammad Muttaka Rini stated this while presenting the final list at a workshop on compendium of localities held in Gusau, the State capital.
Alhaji Muttaka Rini said the workshop was aimed at compiling all the localities demarcated during the Enumeration Area Demarcation, EAD on a Local Government Area basis showing the coverage and location of each locality on interactive maps.
According to him, the compendium of locality in census taking is tool for census data dissemination as well as for national planning and development, adding that, the 2023 population and housing census results will be released up to the locality level.
The Federal Commissioner therefore called on people of the state and the relevant stakeholders to support the commission to discharge their responsibilities and to achieve the desired objectives.
Muttaka Rini who double as Makamam Zamfara also commended the effort of the State government, local government authorities, traditional institutions, the media and other stakeholders for their support during the Enumeration Area Demarcation and efforts to deliver more data for the locality level.
Earlier, the Zamfara State Head of Service Alhaji Kabiru Gayari assured State government commitment to support the commission saying that, the compendium would be of great success
Alhaji Gayari also explained that the state government is in the process of developing its development plan for twenty years.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the soft and hard copy of the locality lists to the local government chairmen through ALGON Chairman Alhaji Salisu Dangulbi by the Federal Commissioner, Alhaji Muhammad Muttaka Rini Makaman Zamfara.
Those acompony with the commissioner are Malam Musa the State Direcror , Alhaji Mannir Sidi Muhammad Director finance Sarkin Shariffan Bungudu, Alhaji Sirajo Nayaya Direcror Administration and Alhaji Bello Mohammed Anka Head of Registration Death and Birth among others.
