Twelve Arrested For Banditry, Arms Supply In Zamfara

Zamfara State Police Command has apprehended twelve suspects for various offenses ranging from political violence, kidnaping, banditry and arm dealers.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Muhammad Shehu, announced this at a press briefing in Gusau, the state capital.

SP Muhammad Shehu said, the police tactical command on surveillance along Tsafe – Funtua Road and acting on intelligence report, encountered two motorcycles carrying two passengers each suspected to be bandits.

The suspects were arrested in possession with walkie-talkie, which they used to communicate with their members during operations, and were among the hoodlums terrorizing commuters along Tsafe – Funtua road by killing and kidnapping innocent people.

The PPRO futher explain that, the
police also learnt that, the suspects belonged to a notorious syndicate that made life unbearable in several villages in Tsafe and and Gusau local government areas.

The suspects are Ibrahim Abubakar aged 20 years, Sani Abacha Yahaya aged 20 years, Sani Muhammad aged 23, and Ahmadu Sani aged 22 years.

In a related development, the command also arrested three persons namely, Abubakar Buda, Bitrus Bulus AKA Peter, and Pyang Adamu who are bandits informants and engaged in gun running business between Jos and Zamfara.

According to him, a Golf vehicle, which was driven by one Abubakar Buda, was arrested along Tsafe – Funtua road, while on transit back from Jos in Plateau State to Kucheri in Tsafe where he was to deliver arms and ammunition to a notorious bandit leader called Chamo.

Exhibits recovered from him include part of AK 47 Rifle and 100 Round of AK 47 live ammunition.

The suspect further confessed that he has been into arms supply business where he secured arms and ammunition from one James in Jos now at large and deliver to Chamo at Kucheri.

The PPRO remarked that investigation is still ongoing and the suspects would soon be charged to court for prosecution.
