The Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Commission in collaboration with UNICEF Bauchi field office, has flagged off the distribution of free learning materials to over one hundred and eighty thousand pupils in the state.


UNICEF Education Consultant Mr Joel Jutum made this known during the commencement of the distribution of the materials in Yola.


According to him, the programme is funded by the global partnership for education to sustain the implementation and initiatives aimed at improving equitable access, retention, transition and quality education in the state.


He said, the materials distributed to the pupils are free, in order to achieve the sustainable development goals, and the education for all goals of educating all children’s at all levels, and in all groups.


Mr Joel Jutum further explained that, UNICEF has impacted positively in the state, through various interventions which comprises of constructions and renovations of blocks of class rooms and toilets, equipped with sets of furniture and learning materials.


The Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by the Chief of Staff government house, Professor Maxwell Gidado, expressed the state government’s readiness to always partner with NGOs for the educational development of the state.


Gidado, commended the efforts of UNICEF and global partnership for education for their continued support and interventions towards the educational development of the state.


Stakeholders at the event were urged to ensure judicious distributions of the learning materials to the targeted children and teachers in the state.
