At least one thousand two hundred (1,200) house holds affected by flood in Patigi local government area of Kwara state are to benefit from about fifty million naira (N50 million ) relief materials to be distributed by the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).

Speaking at the Flagg -off of the distribution of the relief materials in Patigi, the Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa said the items will be distributed to two thousand eight hundred beneficiaries affected by flood in the area.

Represented by the Director Community and Rural Development , Dr Mahmud Muhammed , the Managing Director said the commission will also support the affected communities with medical consumables.

Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa expressed worry over the refusal of the people living along the river banks to relocate to safer areas

He called for the enactment of legislation that will ban people from living along river banks to save their lives.

In his address the Etsu Patigi ,Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi ii, commended HYPPADEC for providing relief materials to those affected by flood in the community.
