The distribution of relief materials to six Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission HYPPADEC member states that were affected by flood is to commence tomorrow.

Chairman of the Commission Barrister Joseph Ityav announced this at the start of their seventh council meeting in Minna the Niger state capital.

Barr Joseph Ityav said this is part of efforts at alleviating the sufferings of some communities affected by flood this year toward providing soccur and relief to them.

He further explained that the commission has awarded contract for erosion control in Kwara state while arrangements have been concluded to revisit the water works on Kebbi and Niger states.

Other projects such as the construction and rehabilitation of schools drainage control borehole and hand pumps fertiliser mechanisation have also been executed.

Mr Joseph Ityav explained that Youth Transformstion Programme to equip five thousand persons on skill acquisition has commenced in all HYPPADEC member states in addition to the implementation of housing scheme for displaced communities in Niger state.

Also speaking Managing Director HYPPADEC Alh Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa said the relief materials to be provided include roofing sheets blankets food stuff and some cash incentives.

Alh Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa added that HYPPADEC has concluded arrangements to despatch a medical team of experts to the affected states to provide free medical outreach to achieve maximum benefits.
