Central Executive Committee of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union -SOKAPU, has suspended the activities of its youths wing with immediate effect.

A statement by the National Public Relations Officer Mr Luka Binniyat, says the suspension came as a result of internal squabbles among the National Executives of the Youths Wing.

The squabble also led to an alleged impeachment of its National Coordinator, Mr John Isaac on the twentieth of August, twenty-twenty-two, the statement added.

It therefore says a seven man committee made up of members of the Executive Committe and two other respectable members of SOKAPU have been set up to look into the issues raised by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Youths Wing which carried out the said impeachment.

‘No national official of SOKAPU Youths Wing must parade his office publicly or use for either personal or official engagement with anyone or group, pending the resolution of issues at stake, it says.

The Committee has been given two weeks to carry out its findings and make recommendations to the Central Executive Committee of SOKAPU.

The statement further explains that the National Executives of the Youths Wing and their supporters have been instructed to keep away from making further comments in the social media and conventional mass media or face disciplinary action.

It however assured the Youths Wing that should they be able to resolve their differences using their internal mechanism, the CEC may lift the suspension even before the committee finishes it work.

The National Executives of our Youths Wing have been officially communicated with our decision at a meeting with them today at the National Secretariat of our Union, in Kaduna’.

SOKAPU is the socio-cultural umbrella body of all the sixty seven ethnic nationalities of the Southern part of Kaduna covering twelve of the twenty three Local Government Areas of the State.

SOKAPU Youth Wing is a creation of Section 19 (iv) of the Constitution of SOKAPU with the major aim of coordinating the Southern Kaduna youths towards achieving the goals of SOKAPU.
