His eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar has declared Monday the twenty ninth of August 2022 as the first day of Safar, Islamic calendar 1444 after Hijira.

In a statement signed by the chairman advisory committee Sultanate Council Sokoto State Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu says the committee did not received any report from various moon sighting Committee across the country confirming the Sighting of the crescent of Safar.

The Moon of Safar is the second Month of the Islamic calendar.
