KDSG To Enhance Community Ownership Of Developmental Projects – Deputy Governor

Deputy governor of Kaduna state, Dr Hadiza Balarabe has advised all participants at the Stakeholders Engagement and Sensitisation Workshop Community and Social Development to enhance their capacities to ensure development of various communities in the State.

She stated this while declaring the workshop opened in Kaduna.

Dr Balarabe noted that, the workshop is aimed at increasing the capacities of communities to participate in community development projects and to take ownership of such projects right from conception level.

She stated that, the major component of the program is the State Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme for Result (KD-CARES) that is being implemented to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 at the state level, by protecting the livelihoods and vulnerable households and supporting the economic recovery of local economic activities.

Dr Hadiza Balarabe also stated that, the training of the stakeholders would drive community development in the state and ensure understanding of project implementation and activities of the newly established Kaduna State Community and Social Development Agency.

“This is in line with one of the Agency’s mandates which is to,“carry out public enlightenment and mobilisation of communities, towards successful execution of Projects”

Dr Balarabe said mobilisation of communities for direct participation in provision of amenities has become pertinent.

“The state government is interested in all projects that lift the human capital development levels of communities like micro-economic projects, expanding access to livelihoods, food security and grants for poor, vulnerable households, and firms”

The State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Hajiya Umma Aboki remarked that the event is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the relevant stakeholders for effective implementation of community driven development as a strategy in mitigating the impact of Covid 19 in the state.

Hajiya Umma Aboki expressed believe and desire that, the participants would take the advantage of the intervention and development in their communities for the benefit of all citizens.

She charged the participants to be objective in ensuring that, project identified in respective communities are in the interest of the entire communities and will be fully utilized.
