Police Arrest Two Fraudsters In Zamfara State

Zamfara State Police Command has arrested two fraudsters who extorted Yar katsina village in Bungudu local government area in the sum of five million Naira in the name of facilitating deployment of security operatives to the village.

In a statement signed and made available to Radio Nigeria in Gusau by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Mohammed Shehu said, the duo suspects, were arrested following a complaint received from the villagers about the swindlers.

The suspects arrested include one Lawali Musa Male 36 year old ld of Jangebe village in Talata Mafara and Jamilu Isah Male 40 year old of Yar dole area in Gusau LGAs respectively.

“The arrest of the two (2) suspects was made following a complain received from members of Yar Katsina community in Bungudu LGA against the principal suspect Lawali Musa, who deceitfully extorted the community”.

According to the statement, in the course of investigation, the Principal suspect confessed to have collected the sum of five million naira (N5, 000,000) from the community in the name of assisting them to have security agents deployed to their community.

SP Shehu noted that, the second suspect Jamilu Isah confessed that, the sum of eight hundred thousand naira was deposited into his account.

The PPRO said investigation was in progress with a view to arresting other suspects in connection with the offence, and they would be charged to court thereafter, to face full wrath of the law, to serve as deterrence to others.

The Command therefore warned that, deployment of security operatives to villages and communities is purely free of charge, and calls on all and sundry not to allow any person or group of persons to decieve them in the name of securing deployment of security operatives to their areas.
