Taraba State Government Commends Sponsored Students

Taraba State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Honourable Edward Baraya says the students sponsored by the state government currently studying at the El’amin International Secondary School in Minna, Niger State are making the state proud with their performance.

Baraya made the assertion while fielding questions from journalists in his office in Jalingo, the capital city.

He described the award of scholarships to ten students to study at the school by Governor Darius Ishaku as one of the major achievements recorded by the present administration in the education sector.

According to him, the students were selected from each of the three Senatorial zones aimed at cross-fertilizing ideas and getting them exposed to schools outside the State.

Hon. Edward Baraya explained that the state government had already paid off all the expenses involved for those that are in JSS 1-3 as well as those who started from SS1-3 for the whole three academic sessions.

He revealed that two out of the ten students had won prizes during the speech and prize-giving day organized by the school held recently which he attended.

” That is to say that our students are good ambassadors and they are making us proud in that area. Another thing this ministry had achieved out of many was the employment of more staff by His Excellency, Governor Darius Ishaku, to replace those that have been retired and the deceased ones in all the institutions,” Baraya added.

Hon. Edward Baraya who is the pioneer commissioner of the ministry that was established in 2019, recalled that when he assumed duty, he embarked on a familiarization visit to all Tertiary institutions under the ministry that including Taraba State University, College of Education Zing, and the Taraba State Polytechnic where he saw things for himself and a lot had been done in terms of development in all the institutions under the present administration.

” I’m proud to say that, based on the affirmation achievements in the education sector by the Governor, he was awarded the 2020 Governor of the year on education by the Blueprint Newspaper on the 3rd January 2021,”Baraya recalled.

However, Hon. Edward Baraya urged the next governor that will succeed Governor Ishaku to build on the structure that he was able to set up for the development of the state.
